Reaching out to and supporting young people in reducing the harm associated with cannabis use is an ongoing challenge, and one that has become even more pressing with the advent of legalization and modern hyperconnectivity. Messages and intervention methods are constantly adapting to these new realities. Practices are evolving, and they are now focused on combating stigmatization, understanding the motivations behind substance use and valuing experiential knowledge. How can these orientations be put into practice in our day-to-day work with young people who use cannabis? Could setting up initiatives among young people be one of the solutions to explore?

Come discover three innovative and inspiring by-and-for intervention projects:

  • The Canna-Coach mobile app and forum;
  • The VoxCann cannabis education initiative, GRIP Project
  • Get Sensible educational campaign from the Canadian Students for Sensible Drug Policy (CSSDP).

You will be able to contribute to the discussion bringing your vision and experience of support among young people, the use of technology, and the benefits and limitations of these approaches.

This interactive roundtable will be offered virtually in French and English, in two separate groups of your choice.

At the end of this activity (objectives):

  • You'll learn more about the three projects and their practical benefits: Canna-Coach, VoxCann and Get Sensible.
  • You'll gain a better understanding of the benefits of peer involvement in reducing the harm associated with cannabis use among young people.
  • You'll be able to exchange tips and tricks for experimenting with support groups in your own environment.
